Fall Pandemic-EBT

The state of Virginia received approval to issue additional Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) food purchasing assistance to students who are learning remotely. Because all students enrolled in Pittsylvania County Schools were learning remotely as of September 21, 2020, all students will receive this food purchasing assistance. All students enrolled in a Pittsylvania County School, as of September 21, 2020 are eligible since all schools now participate in USDA’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Students enrolled after this date will not receive this fall benefit.

The Department of Social Services will automatically be issuing to all families this fall benefit by mail on a new EBT card or the funds will be uploaded to an existing EBT card between September 30 and October 15, 2020. There is no further action required of parents.

The total average benefit will be approximately $100 - $150 per student. If you have questions about P-EBT after October 15 or want more information, please visit the DSS P-EBT webpage at to submit your question and receive a response. Since benefits are issued by the Virginia Department of Social Services, not by the school division, it is not necessary to contact your child’s school or the School Nutrition Program about this benefit. Again, questions should be directed to the DSS P-EBT webpage. Additionally, the following informational flyer has been created to help answer frequently asked questions.
